Destination XcontestantTai Lowry lied about meeting JaNa Craig during the first week 3 challenge, which I feel was a big mistake, because Shayne Cureton and Peter Weber admitted to their fellow contestants that they’d crossed paths, and they were much more savvy about the situation. During the firstDestination Xweek 3 challenge, Tai and Shayne won, and received their prizes from JaNa and Peter. Tai received the privilege of saving someone from the Map Room, while Shayne earned the chance to send someone in. Neither one of them recognized Peter fromThe BachelorandThe Traitorsor JaNa fromLove Island, and they didn’t mention their meetings to their fellow contestants.

However, after the thirdDestination Xseason 1elimination, Peter and JaNa shocked Tai, Shayne, and the remaining contestants–Rick Szabo, Mack Fitzgerald, Kim Conner, Ally Bross, and Biggy Bailey–when they joined the game. When Peter came aboard the bus, Shayne immediately told him in front of everyone that they’d already met, and Peter replied that it was good to see him again, but Tai acted as though she’d never seen JaNa before in her life. I believe thatTai might’ve ruined her game by telling this lie, which is a shame because she was in a good position in the competition before that.

Tai Lowry’s Lie About JaNa Craig Seemed Suspicious To Her Fellow Destination X Contestants

Peter Weber Was Especially Confused

I thought thatTai was playing a smartDestination Xgame by aligning herself not only with showmance Shayne and Ally, plus Biggy, but also Mack and Rachel(the latter of whom was eliminated after Tai accidentally mistakenly told her that they were in Cannes instead of Paris). However, right before JaNa stepped onto the bus, Tai was shown in her confessional stating that she didn’t think that JaNa would be joining the game, and that she was never more scared in the game than she was at that moment.

When JaNa boarded the bus, Tai didn’t admit to having met her before like Shayne did with Peter, but instead introduced herself.Tai also told JaNa that it was nice to meet her. In her confessional,Tai admitted that she panicked, and now she’d have to use her acting skills and pretend that she was just as shocked and confused as everyone else to see JaNa board theDestination Xbus. Tai added that she was sticking with her lie, and she hoped that it wouldn’t come back to bite her.

Later in the episode, Peter mentioned that he’d met Shayne earlier and given him his advantage card, much to the shock of everyone on the bus. Kim then asked Tai if she met Peter, and she said that she’d never seen him before in her life. In her confessional, Tai asked what Peter was doing, but I thought thatit was a smart move on his part to be open and honest, especially as a newcomer to the game. Kim then questioned Shayne about how he knew Peter, and Peter responded that it wasn’t a secret. Shayne simply said that they met in the last challenge.

When Kim said that Shayne failed to mention it, he acted like it wasn’t a big deal. In his confessional, Shayne explained that he was only focused on the advantage, implying that, to him, meeting Peter didn’t seem like something worth mentioning. He added thatwhen Peter boarded the bus, he didn’t attempt to hide it. Peter then asked Tai if she met JaNa, and she continued to lie, saying that no one delivered her advantage to her. JaNa then said that it was so crazy, leaving Peter looking very confused. I believe thatTai made a serious error in judgment that could cost her the game because it seemed very obvious that she was lying.

Tai Put JaNa In An Awkward Position

JaNa Will Have to Lie To Cover For Tai

I believe thatit was unfair of Tai to put JaNa in such an awkward position. In her confessional, JaNa said that there was already drama, and she hadn’t even been there two minutes. JaNa confessed that she went along with what Tai did because she didn’t want to be on her bad side because she seemed to be running things on the bus. I felt bad for JaNa because that isn’t exactly true. When Tai flat-out denied meeting JaNa when Peter questioned her about it, JaNa said in her confessional that Tai was a liar, and that no one could trust her.

After Peter asked her if she was being one hundred percent honest, Tai replied that of course she was. She said in her confessional that she’d done a lot of work to earn everyone’s trust, but now everything had been turned upside down. She concluded by saying that it was messy. I found this frustrating because it didn’t have to be messy. Tai created this situation by lying about meeting JaNa. I don’t think thatthe otherDestination Xcontestantsbelieved her, so nowshe’s ruined whatever trust she’d built with them. Tai’s also putting JaNa in the terrible position of having to cover for her and therefore also lie to everyone in the process.

Tai Doesn’t Know If JaNa Will Keep Their Secret

Tai Has No Idea If She Can Trust JaNa

The problem with Tai lying about JaNa is that she doesn’t know her at all, soshe has no idea if she’ll keep their secret. While I think that it would be risky for JaNa to admit that she went along with Tai’s lie, it’s equally dangerous for her to keep lying to people’s faces. I think that JaNa is in a no-win position, so she might throw caution to the wind and reveal Tai’s secret to someone in order to build trust. If those people are Tai’s alliance members, then they could turn their backs on her, and she’ll be left alone in the game.

I’m especially worried about this because, in her confessional, JaNa said that she was supposed to say that her goal forbeing onDestination Xwas making memories and friends with others, butshe really thought that they were all there for a free trip around Europe and $250,000. She also shared that she’s a military brat, who’s literally been all over the world. I fear for Tai because, not only is JaNa willing to do whatever it takes socially to win, but she has the knowledge to do it as well. Tai, on the other hand, got the lastDestination Xlocation wrong.

Shayne & Peter Looked Much More Trustworthy Than Tai

Tai’s Lies Might Catch Up To Her

Although some of theDestination Xcontestants might be questioning why Shayne never said anything about Peter, I believe that he really didn’t think that he was anyone important because he didn’t know who he was. I think thathis alliance members will forgive him for not mentioning Peter, and they’ll appreciate that he was honest about their meeting from the beginning, once it was revealed. Also, it seems very obvious to me that Peter knows that Tai’s lying because it makes no sense that he delivered Shayne’s clue and JaNa wouldn’t have given Tai hers.

However, I think thatTai might find herself in trouble no matter what happens next. Her fellowDestination Xcontestants, especially Peter, didn’t seem to believe that she and JaNa hadn’t met before. If she comes clean now, they won’t trust her for lying, and, if JaNa reveals the truth, they’ll also find out she’s a liar.If everyone turns on Tai, it’ll be very hard for her to winDestination Xunless she wins challenges and makes correct guesses about their locations all on her own. Playing and winning this game is almost impossible without an alliance.

I was enjoying watching Tai become aDestination Xfrontrunner, but I was disappointed to see her make such a big mistake in her social game. Peter’s background with being aTraitorscontestant really came through during this episode because, not only were he and Shayne savvy enough to not hide their prior meeting, but he immediately guessed that Tai and JaNa had met earlier. The worst part is that Tai and JaNa’s meeting didn’t even mean anything, and it really wasn’t something for her to lie about in the first place.I hope that Tai can overcome this obstacle, and that she hasn’t blown up herDestination Xgame over something so inconsequential.
