ScreenRant: Burnham got her happy ending, but I know that this was supposed to run six seasons. Is there still unfinished business that you have, or that you want to resolve personally with Michael Burnham?

Sonequa Martin-Green: It’s funny that you say that it was supposed to be six seasons because in the very beginning, it did seem like it was going to be a six-season situation because the contract with Pinewood Studios was for six years, and there were some other things. Butwe actually assumed that it would go for seven [seasons], so it was a bit of a shocker. TV has completely changed, though, and I always say that because it’s a totally different landscape.

ButI can honestly say that I don’t feel like I have any unfinished businessbecause we jumped ahead.

After Admiral Burnham imagines an emotional reunion with the USS Discovery’s crew on the bridge, she then launches her starship on its final mission, which syncs up with the events seen in theStar Trek: Short Treksepisode “Calypso.” Rather than leave off with a cliffhanger or keep fans wondering,Star Trek: Discoverywrapped up Michael Burnham’s story in a satisfying wayand gave her a happy ending thatStar TrekCaptains rarely receive.
