TheDemon Slayermanga’sSwordsmith Village Arcwill be getting an anime adaptation. An announcement was made following the conclusion of the anime’sEntertainment District Arcon Sunday.
Most of theEntertainment District Arc’sstaff will be returning forthe upcoming anime adaptation, most notably director Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the X,Tales of Symphonia: The Animation), and character designer and chief animation director Akira Matsushima (Samurai X: Reflection,Maria Watches Over Us). Ufotable will once again animate the series, with the main cast all returning for the new arc.

Koyoharu Gotouge’sDemon Slayermanga ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 2016 to 2020, amassing 23 collected volumes. Gotougehas earned a number of awardsfor the series, most recently winning the Japan Cartoonists Association Award and Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.
A 26-episodeanime adaptationanimated by ufotable premiered during the Spring 2019 season. Sotozaki directed the series, with Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina handling the music. A film adaptation of the manga’sMugen Train Arc, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train,was released in October 2020. The film became the highest-grossing film of 2020 and currently stands as both the highest-grossing anime and Japanese film of all time.
The second season of the anime premiered during the Fall 2021 season with a 7-episodeadaptation of theMugen Train Arcfilm. The series then moved on to the 11-episode adaptation of the manga’sEntertainment District Arc. Most of the staff and cast from the first season and film reprised their roles for season 2.
