Yesterday, Bandai Namco Entertainment delighted fans with the announcement of aDark Soulstrilogy box set that is set to includeDark Souls Remastered,Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, andDark Souls 3: The Fires Fade Edition, exclusively for PlayStation 4. Not only is theDark Soulstrilogy box set exclusive to PS4, though, it’s also exclusive to Japan.

According to Bandai Namco, there are no plans to release theDark Soulstrilogy box set"in the Americas." While not explicitly stated by Bandai Namco, this likely means that the box set is not planned for release in any western territories. Unfortunately, this means anyone living in the United States hoping to own the impressive collection will need to import it from Japan, which will make it even pricier.

Dark Souls Trilogy Not Planned for Release in the West - Dark Souls trilogy box set

As it stands, theDark Soulstrilogy box set is rather expensive, costing 49,800 Yen or roughly $450. Besides the games, the box set includes impressive bookends that look like a knight and a bonfire, art prints, dictionaries with descriptions for every item in the series, and six discs worth ofDark Soulsmusic.

There are likely still some diehardDark Soulsfanatics that are disappointed that they won’t have the opportunity to purchase theDark Soulstrilogy box set. Perhaps if fans show enough demand for such a product, Bandai Namco will relent and ultimately decide to release the collection outside of Japan.

While it’s unfortunate thatDark Soulsfans outside of Japan won’t have a chance to purchase the collection in their native language, at least they can purchase all three games separately. OnceDark Souls Remasteredreleases on May 25, PS4 and Xbox One owners can own the entire trilogy on a single console, as it joinsDark Souls 2: Scholar of the First SinandDark Souls 3: The Fires Fade Edition, which are already available.

Dark Soulstrilogy box set is set to release later this year, exclusively in Japan for the PlayStation 4.
