The actor then elaborated: “I believe [Cox] meant the last season we actually shot, meaning the second season. Yet he used the term final season, so it’s a bit confusing.” Contrary to this, D’Onofrio revealed that the stars have talked about the series’ future, and they “both agree there’s a very good chance for a third season.”
This is hardly a surprise—Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, previously discussed the series’ future before its first season even debuted. The executive confirmed that “one-hundred percent it’s a multi-season show,”before adding that he didn’t“know how many seasons it’ll run.”

With all of this further context in mind, it’s clear that Cox likely misspoke. Speaking at Galaxy Con, he said the phrase “final season” when discussing the upcoming second season and how it does something different from the comics. Given the positive critical reception ofDaredevil: Born Againand the rest of the Netflix Marvel characters being integrated into the MCU, it would be a shock if the series doesn’t make it to a third season. However, its streaming numbers were not particularly strong, leaving some room for doubt.
Nonetheless, Daredevil and Kingpin, especially Cox and D’Onofrio’s versions, are fan-favorite characters, which is why they were brought back in the first place.
