Made popular in the 1990s as way to make beautiful graphics with the tech available at the time, FMV, or full-motion video games, has mostly fallen out of favor. As the first game from Kodaka’s studio Too Kyo Games,Death Come Firstis a creepy sci-fi mystery. Already released on mobile and Switch in June of 2020, this thriller isdropping onto Steam on the 17th of Julyand PlayStation 4 later on in the year.
Death Come Trueis a completely different game thanDanganronpa. TheDeath Come Truestory begins as a young man wakes in a hotel room with no memories and a woman he doesn’t know. Although the news broadcast in the hotel room claims he’s a wanted serial killer, he can’t remember a thing, so he and the mystery woman team up to find the secrets hidden in the hotel, all while trying to avoid dying at the hands of the monster hiding in the halls.
But the real secret to the game’s unique draw is the choices. Each choice a player makes not only influences the endings, but can be previewed with little screen-in-screen hints. Even deaths come with rewards; players unlock in-game videos with each death. This type of old-school technology combined with unique story-telling andnew-gen technology is redefining horror games.
