A new video compilation ofCyberpunk 2077running on the Nintendo Switch 2 is making its rounds on the internet, and the game looks impressive on Nintendo’s new console. There were some early reports that the Switch 2 version ofCyberpunk 2077ran at low frame rates, but it seems like developer CD Projekt Red has taken great care to verify the Switch 2 version of the game is a great place to playCyberpunk 2077for new players and for returning players that want to be able to take Night City on the go.

The video compilation contains released Switch 2 B-roll footage from Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice series and was put together byalejandrop1991on YouTube. The 37 minutes of footage indicateCyberpunk 2077seems to be running even better than it was at Switch 2 preview events(viaVGC). The game’s visuals have been downgraded from the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X versions to run on the Switch 2, but the game looks and runs remarkably well for a system that is less powerful than those.

The Footage Should Ease Fans' Worries

CDPR Has Clearly Taken The Port To Switch 2 Seriously

Cyberpunk 2077is one of the mostgraphically intensive games in recent memory. So, naturally, there seemed to be a lot of worry fromCyberpunkfans about whether the Switch 2 version of the game would run well.Cyberpunk 2077had one of the most disastrous launches of any modern game, which even led to multipleclass-action lawsuits against CDPRfor allegedly misrepresenting what the final product of the game looked like. It took several years and the release of Update 2.0 and thePhantom Libertyexpansion, but the game was eventually fixed to a state most fans were happy with.

The Switch 2 version of the game, titledCyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, will release withall updates and thePhantom Libertyexpansion right on the cartridge, contrary to how most third-party developers are approaching the Switch 2 for their titles. The game will feature several control schemes, including the Switch 2’s mouse functionality and motion controls. The footage appears to be from a docked Switch 2, so it remains to be seen how the game will run in handheld mode, but the game does run decently well on the Steam Deck on low settings, which should be somewhat comparable.

Switch 2 Is A Surprising Third-Party Powerhouse

There’s A Lot Of Third-Party Support Coming

Cyberpunk 2077is looking surprisingly good on the Switch 2. It will not get to the level of a mid or high-end PC, but the performance, if this footage is anything to go by,should make plenty of fans happy with the Switch 2 port.Hogwarts Legacyalso has some new Switch 2 footage, and the game looksastronomically better than it did on the Switch 1. With big open-world games likeCyberpunkandHogwartsrunning well on Switch 2, it brings other third-party games into question, and whether the Switch 2 will see a lot of good ports throughout its lifespan.

BesidesMario Kart Worldas the only new first-party Switch 2 launch title, and several updated ports of existing Nintendo titles, there is aplethora of third-party support at launch for Switch 2. Even with theGame-Key Card controversies, and most third-party games being Game-Key Cards, it seems like the Nintendo Switch 2 is already in a better spot for third-party support than the original Switch was. How well those titles perform remains to be seen, but it’s looking like the Switch 2 may be a prime place to playCyberpunk 2077.
