Ever sinceCrysis Remasteredreleased to generally poor reception due to its lack of polish compared to the original release ofCrysisin 2007, fans have been calling for upgrades to improve the game. Across all platforms,Crysis Remasteredhas suffered from technical issues and outdated first-person shooter gameplay.Crysis Remasteredrecently got DLSS support for PC, which should help PC players moderately improve graphics and performance, but other platforms haven’t been given more necessary upgrades in order to optimize the game.
That might change with a new announcement from theCrysisTwitter account. The account tweeted yesterday that developer Crytek had released hotfixes for motion blur issues inCrysis Remasteredas well as ensuring DLSS could be enabled on all systems that allowed it. Crytek followed up that tweet with another that teased “updates for both Xbox and PlayStation,” which has effectively caused fans of the game to launch into a discussion about what these upgrades could be.

Crysis Remasteredis currently not available on next-gen consoles, but upgrade benefits for those with the newest systems seems like a sensible next step for the game. The hardware capabilities of the PS5 and Xbox Series X are much greater than those of older generation consoles, and this would be another chance for Crytek to optimizeCrysis Remasteredto push the limits of next-gen hardware asCrysisonce did. The multiple graphics modes andray-tracing capabilities inCrysis Remasteredwill function better on next-gen consoles, and fans are hoping even more next-gen features make it into the game.
The most popular requests so far for next-gen upgrades are an unlocked frame rate on performance mode and haptic feedback features on the PS5. An unlocked frame rate would allowCrysis Remasteredplayers on consoles to possibly push the game past 60 fps, creating an even smoother visual experience. ThePS5 DualSense haptic feedback featureshave also been lauded by many gamers and would add another level of immersion toCrysis Remastered. Other requests from fans call for the game’s addition to Xbox Game Pass and a physical release.
The tweet from Crytek doesn’t go into detail about what these upgrades will be but, hopefully, the developer can implement next-gen upgrades without compounding existing issues withCrysis Remastered. Crytek’s updates for the game have fixed bugs but have also added more problems on a few occasions. An October 2020update forCrysis Remasteredadded a huge problemwhere vegetation in the game would freeze. If Crytek can steer away from this kind of update and give gamers a clean enhancement experience, it could go a long way to getting more players back on board with the game.
Crysis Remasteredis available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
