A new leak has stirred up speculation thatRed Dead Redemption 2could come to the Nintendo Switch. That may seem like a challenge, givenRed Dead Redemption 2’s impressive visual technology, but the leak shows it’s possible. The leak in question claims to confirm that a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller emblem can be found inRed Dead Redemption 2’s files. While there’s no further context to the texture’s discovery, it does start an interesting conversation.
Twitter user TezFunz2 posted about the discovery recently alongside the message “Nintendo Switch Controller Found in #RDR2 textures.” TezFunz2 did not provide further evidence that the image is actually fromRed Dead Redemption 2’s files, however. As such, the leak should be considered an unverified rumor. Until that confirmation comes through, it could easily have been a mistake on TezFunz2’s part.

With the understanding that this is an unverified rumor, it’s still interesting to consider if it’s true. If nothing else it’s possible thatRed Dead Redemption 2on PC could support theNintendo Switch Pro Controller. The Pro Controller is compatible with PCs, so it’s entirely possible that a huge game likeRed Dead Redemption 2would account for it.
There is also the possibility that Rockstar is preparing a Nintendo Switch port ofRed Dead Redemption 2and that the texture is part of those plans. The question to be asked is, if Rockstar is working on aSwitch port forRDR2would the first evidence of it be a single texture of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller?
There are still many reasons to believe thatRed Dead Redemption 2is not coming to Nintendo Switch. But even ifRockstarisn’t working on a Switch port, the community excitement over the possibility could still help persuade the studio that it’s worth the effort.
Red Dead Redemption 2is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
