TheCyberpunk 2077fanbase went a little wild yesterday when news stories started popping up claiming thatCD Projekt Red is currently working on multiple Cyberpunk projects.The story suggested that there were actually threeCyberpunkprojects in the works, but as many suspected, that was too good to be true.
The story originally came from Polish site Bankier.pl, which quoted CD Projekt president Adam Kiciński talking about work on “threeCyberpunkthings.” As it turns out, Google Translate’s handling of that quote was pretty far from Kiciński’s actual intent. Sorry fans,Cyberpunk 2077will have to be enough for now.
Once the multipleCyberpunkstories started breaking, CD Projekt Red quickly shot down the news and provided some context and an accurate translation that sounds a lot more realistic…
“We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects, with three focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077. These include CD Projekt Red Warsaw and Kraków, who are handling the main game, as well as the Wrocław studio, where around 40 industry specialists are engaged in technology R&D… A separate, dedicated team at the Warsaw studio is handling the development of Gwent. The final team is Spokko, which is currently working on a yet unannounced mobile project.”
Considering how big a projectCyberpunk 2077is (just look at its file size), it definitely make sense that most of CD Projekt Red’s resources are dedicated to this game. The game is shipping in April 2020, so perhaps after it breaks some sales records it will be time to start considering additional projects in this universe. Maybea Keanu character spin-off game?
