Last year, Lance McDonaldhackedPT’s camerato reveal that the malicious ghost in the game is always directly behind the player. Now McDonald has turned his attention toGod of War, hacking the camera and discovering a rather hilarious easter egg in the process.
McDonald has released some footage of hisGod of Warcamera hack, showing the cinematic fight between Kratos and Baldur from the beginning of the game. Without the cinematic camera angles, the fight looks rather stiff and goofy, but the more interesting tidbit comes from the end. At the end of their fight, Kratos throws Baldur off a cliff, and in normal gameplay, players can’t watch Baldur fall. However, with the camera hack, McDonald is able to watch Baldur fall off the cliff.

While doing this, McDonald discovered Baldur actually extends his middle fingers while falling. Since there’s no way for players to see this in normal gameplay, it’s interesting that the developers animated it to be in the game at all.God of Wardirector Cory Barlogre-tweeted McDonald’s findings, so it seems that he isn’t necessarily surprised that it’s in the game.
It will be interesting to see what else McDonald is able to find with hisGod of Warcamera hack. There may be many other easter eggs hiding in the game like this Baldur one, though anyone hoping forGod of Warsequelclues should keep their expectations in check.
TheGod of Warsequel has yet to be officially announced, but there are a few details that fans can likely count on. Firstly,God of War 2will likely be on the PS5, as Sony is set to launch its next-generation console this coming holiday season. Secondly, the game will almost certainly follow-up on theGod of Warcliffhanger ending, meaning fans can expect some of Norse mythology’s most famous figures to be central to the plot.
Unfortunately, it will likely be quite some time before fans get to see theGod of Warsequel. It was five years betweenGod of War: Ascensionand the release ofGod of Waron PS4, and so it will likely be at least another year or two before the game is even announced. Fans will want to tune in toSony State of Play presentationsand other events in the meantime.
