Activision and Sledgehammer Games have been very deliberate with their reveals forCall of Duty: WW2. While the campaign reveal came first, and was then followed by multiplayer at E3 2017, many fans have wondered if and when a zombies reveal would eventually arrive. While many fans were already well aware thatCall of Duty: WW2will be at San Diego Comic Conlater this month, Activision has confirmed that the fan-favorite zombies mode will finally be revealed.
In an effort to get the fanbase excited once again, the officialCall of DutyTwitter Account posted a picture featuring a zombie wearing some sort of metal armor on its head with the date July 20. While the Tweet doesn’t give much else away, it appears that Sledgehammer Games has crafted a twisted new vision for theCall of Duty: WW2mode, which fans can see for the very first time at the show.
As it currently stands, not much is known about the game mode, though the studio has not been shy about teasing fans. In an interview last month, Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey hinted that the mode willfeature a backstory based on real events. He then went on further to say that the zombies mode will feature stronger survival horror elements, with members of the development team finding inspiration thanks to their previous work on theDead Spacefranchise.
Considering that Sledgehammer Games has made a point to be as authentic as possible, it’ll be interesting if those same rules apply to a traditionally over the top mode like zombies. In pastCall of Dutygames, players were able to utilize power-ups, enter alternative dimensions, and wield outrageous style weapons like ray guns to battle the undead. With a renewed focus on World War II anda commitment to authenticitypreventing regenerating health and unlimited sprint in the other modes, is the survival horror component a sign of things to come for the popular mode?
