A couple of days ago,Infinity Ward removed helicoptersfrom its insanely popular battle royale gameCall of Duty: Warzonedue to a bug that was giving certain players an unfair advantage. Luckily they weren’t out of the game for too long, as the developer has confirmed that helicopters are, once again, back in the game.
The aerial vehicle was re-added to the gameafter its newest in-game hotfix went live earlier today, which also saw the release of a newStimulus Solos game mode.

For context, the helicopters were removed fromCall of Duty: Warzoneafter it was discovered that certain players were able to fly them under the map. From there, players could be perched on the vehicle, fly anywhere in the map they wanted and shoot someone, netting what essentially amounts to a free kill in the process.
As the onlyaerial vehicle inWarzone, the reintroduction of the helicopterchanges up how the game plays in a massive way. Even though it was only gone for a small amount of time, having the ability to go from one part of the map to another in just a couple of seconds really affects how each game is played.
That being said, Infinity Ward’s decision to remove the vehicle is totally understandable. Having the ability to get under the map and score free kills doesn’t make for a fun time, especially if it’s just one team being annoying. Someone try to cheese their way into a win by cheating, especially in a battle royale game, is never good.
While it might have been annoying to not have the vehicle in the game for a bit, at least it was only a few days. Sometimes bugs, changes, and nerfs, like the new Snake Shot ammo nerf, can take weeks and weeks to address, and with everything going on in the world right now, it’s easy to assume that it might be a while before the bug got fixed. Here’s hoping that future bugs take a similar amount of time to fix.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
