A couple of days ago, supposed industry insider Marcus Sellars claimed that this year’sCall of Dutygame from Treyarch would beCall of Duty: Black Ops 4. Now “multiple sources” have confirmed that Sellars is correct, and late 2018 will see the release ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 4.

This is according to Eurogamer, who spoke with multiple sources on the matter. Unfortunately, the publication was unable to confirm additional details about the game, except that it will have a “more grounded feeling.” This could be an indication that its setting will be modern times as Sellars has suggested, though such an approach could also be accomplished with a historical setting.

One claim made by Sellars has yet to be verified, and that is whether or not the game is alsoin the works for Nintendo Switch. PastCall of Dutygames have released on Nintendo consoles, so it wouldn’t be out of the question to seeBlack Ops 4make its way to the Switch. After all, the Switch is enjoying record-breaking sales for a home console, and it would make sense for Activision to try to capitalize on its growing player base with aBlack Ops 4port.

Specific platforms should be confirmed forBlack Ops 4when the game is officially announced by Activision. The game’s announcement should come by the time E3 rolls around in June, with the first trailer likely dropping in May. At that time, we should learn more about not onlyBlack Ops 4’s consoles, but also story details and new gameplay features.

It’s true that the game has yet to be officially announced, but there’s just too much evidence that 2018’sCall of Dutyis Black Ops 4. Prior to Eurogamer confirming the game’s existence through its sources, thevoice actor for Frank Woodsaccidentally confirmed that he was working on the game. Anyone anxious for an official announcement, though, will likely have to wait a few months.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4will launch in late 2018 for unspecified platforms.
