We don’t have a green light yet, we’re going to see how the show does. We are very confident that the show is going to do well, because if you’ve seen it, you know that it’s going to appeal to people. So, hopefully we’ll get a second season, and then we’ll be off.

I think what happened with Bosch is pretty rare, and I can still remember on the first day of filming Bosch, I did an interview for Instagram or something, where I asked Titus if he could stick around for five seasons. And he said, “Yeah,” but we got twice that, so we’ll see what happens. I think the show does have legs. There are a lot of stories we can tell with Renée and with Maggie, so hopefully we get a chance to do that.

What This Means For The Future Of Ballard

The Show Could Have A Long Run

Ballardwill follow Maggie Q’s Renée Ballard as she heads up a new Cold Case division of the LAPD. Looking back on unsolved cases from decades ago, Ballard and her team uncover corruption in the police department.Ballard’s cast also includes Welliver, John Carroll Lynch (Zodiac), Courtney Taylor (Abbott Elementary), and Michael Mosley (Scrubs).

Ballard first appeared in theBosch: Legacyseries finaleto set the character up for her own series.Welliver will be reprising his role as Harry Bosch, but only as a recurring character. His connection with the new show should bring over viewers from the previous series and helpBallardsecure a season 2 renewal.

Bosch: Legacyhad a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoesfor all three seasons. Its audience score was also consistently high, coming in at an average 86%. As the show maintained its quality,Ballardhas a lot to live up to. However, it will hopefully be able to take that positive momentum and build something memorable.

Our Take On Connelly’s Comments

There Is Plenty Of Material To Adapt

Given thatBoschrelated series have been adapted for over a decade,Ballardhas a strong chance at success. So far, the character hasappeared in seven of Connelly’s novels between 2017-2024. With so much source material already established,Ballardhas a roadmap for how to use the character.

Connelly sounds confident in the quality of the series, and if it’s a hit with viewers, the show could be renewed for another installment. As Maggie Q has a long history in movies in TV, she will be an added draw. With so many potential stories to adapt, hopefully,Ballardispicked up for season 2.
