Summary

Over the next couple of years, Ubisoft has plans to go all in onAssassin’s Creed. Not only can players expect a couple of mainline titles, but the studio is also exploring the VR space, the mobile market, and launching a whole new way to play, dubbedAssassin’s Creed Infinity. While some of these projects sound more interesting than others, they all help make it a great time to be anAssassin’s Creedfan. And hopefully, throughout all of this, Ubisoft does not leave one of its greatest new additions behind: Basim.

Introduced inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, players have gotten to experience the life of Basim through two very different games. That has given them a deep look into his life, but his story is far from over. There is still so much more Ubisoft could do with him, and hopefully, the future ofAssassin’s Creedwill include that. Even if it simply comes in the form of a tie-in novel or brief cameo, fans should really get to see more of Basim’s exciting mythological tale.

Basim Should Be A Part of Assassin’s Creed’s Future

Ubisoft Has Spent a Lot of Time Building Up Basim

Assassin’s Creed Valhallamay have put players in the shoes of a Viking warrior, but the Hidden Ones still played a major role throughout the story. Players wereintroduced to Basim and Hytham, who would serve as constant companions throughout their journey. Both of them would attempt to guide Eivor in the ways of the Hidden Ones, but as the story progressed, players would also discover something far deeper going on underneath the surface. Basim was far more than simply a Hidden One: he was Loki himself.

Last year, Ubisoft let players see even more of Basim’s lifethroughAssassin’s Creed Mirage. This game showed players his rise through the ranks of the Hidden Ones and how he came to terms with the fact he is a reincarnation of Loki. They watched as he battled an early form of the Templars, discovers the secrets of the Isu, and scorns his mentor, Roshan. As the credits roll, he looks to his future, and prepares to take on those that imprisoned him in the first place.

There is Still So Much Assassin’s Creed Could Explore About Basim

Both games set up an extremely intriguing story, the likes of whichAssassin’s Creedhas not really seen before. But while players have spent a lot of time with him already, there are still so many more stories that Ubisoft could tell. Not only could it depict the events thattook place betweenMirageandValhalla, but it could also explore what happens after the end ofValhalla. The game sets up what could be a great follow-up story that really needs to be explored in some fashion.

There are many projects in the works right now, soAssassin’s Creedfans will not be light on content.Assassin’s Creed Codename Jadewill bring the franchise to mobile devices,Codename Redwill explore Feudal Japan,Codename Hexewill show players 16th Century Europe, and players can also expect a brand-new type of multiplayer experience too. Because of all of that, there is seemingly no space for more Basim-centric adventures, However, since he is Loki, he could appear sooner than players may realize.

While anotherAssassin’s Creed Mirage-like title could be the best way to explore Basim, there is a chance he appears in one of these many projects as well. At the end ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, he entered the Animus to track down his missing children. That means he could be almost anywhere at any point in theAssassin’s Creedstory, so there is nothing stopping him from appearing in any future title. Hopefully he does, because it would be a shame if his story was just left hanging for years.
