[Update: Ubisoft has confirmed thatAssassin’s Creed Odysseywill be at E3 2018.]
WhenAssassin’s Creed: Originslaunched, it did so to somesolid reviews, with many gamers believing the latest action-adventure title to be the best of the franchise. Of course, this notion alone supports the idea of Ubisoft giving the game a direct sequel, as rumors about the next title being set in Greece quickly spread. Now, if this leak proves to be accurate, it appears that these rumors are true.
Originally leaked by JeuxVideo, a piece of collectible merchandise - a keychain with a Roman or Greek helmet - is shown, giving credence to the ideas of anAssassin’s Creed: Originssequel. The keychain container also proudly displaysAssassin’s Creed: Odysseybeneath a unique symbol, which contains another helmet shown beneath a sharply-pointed Assassin symbol.
SinceOriginshas had full support and post-game content, with the latest DLCCurse of the Pharaohsbringing that to an end, it would make sense that Ubisoft is moving forward with the next installment in the franchise. Check out the leaked piece of merchandise here:
Although unconnected to the leaked merch, other rumors suggest thatAssassin’s Creed: Odysseywill launch in the fall of 2019. This window of release makes sense given thatOriginstook an extra year of development, but it does mean that players may be waiting a long time for an official confirmation. Fortunately, that rumor doesn’t rule outAssassin’s Creed: Odysseyhaving a presence at E3 2018, especially after theCanadian Walmart leak.
As with most rumors, this news should be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s hard to imagine that this merch could mean anything but anotherAssassin’s Creedgame. In the meantime, Ubisoft fans wanting a little more time with the franchise have a coupleAssassin’s Creed: OriginsDLCs to play, as well as a New Game Plus mode. As soon as more is learned about Ubisoft’s next title, whether it beAssassin’s Creed: Odysseyor not, we will let you know, Ranters!
Assassin’s Creed: Originsis available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
