Earlier this week,Apex Legendsreceived its first balance update thatnerfed both the Wingmanand the Peacekeeper shotgun. It appears that this update was a treasure trove of data too, as data miners have discovered two new potential weapons in the form of a flamethrower and a remote turret.

Before moving forward, it’s worth mentioning that this news should be taken with a grain of salt, asApexdeveloper Respawn Entertainment could decide to postpone these additions (which we would never know since there is no confirmation on when they would be added anyway). It’s also noteworthy that theteased L-Star LMGstill hasn’t been added to the BR title, so a waiting list could be building behind the scenes.

Thanks to Austin Scriver who shared this information with a popularApex Legendsleak source, there is some clear indication that both a flamethrower and a remote turret are in the game files. Sadly, this is about all we know. The likeliest scenario is that these are new weapons to be found around the world ofApex, but there are also other possibilities.

If they are not weapons, then it is possible that we are receiving a heavy, fire-based character inApex Legends.Octane has recently been all but confirmedfor season one, but presumably, he’s not the only one. A character by the name of Prophet, with an ability based on Precognition, has also been leaked, so a third character is not out of the realm of possibility.

While we wait to see what comes of this leak, it’s worth pointing out how much information is swirling around the first season ofApex Legends. With these weapons, new characters, and a Battle Pass in the works, there is a lot of anticipation that this season will makeApexmore of a powerhouse in the battle royale genre. Whether or not it lives up to the hype remains to be seen, but if these leaks are to be believed, it sounds like it is on the right track.

Apex Legendsis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
