The ending ofDeltaruneChapter Four had us all on the edge of our seats. Whether you ended your playthrough with Susie confiding in you or a chilling voicemail from Carol Holiday, there’s so much to look forward to in the following chapter and many possible shenanigans for Kris and Susie to get up to at the festival. Many fans have already started theorizing about the next steps the story may take.
This article contains spoilers for Chapters 1-4 of Deltarune.Deltarune’snarrative follows a prophecy, and we can piece together what might be happening next by seeing which lines have already come to fruition. After playing through the new chapters a few times, I’ve picked up on some details that I think are clues relating to future events. Judging by the direction Chapter Four went and what is prophesied to happen next,I’m sure I know what the main plot points of Chapter Five will include.

Asgore Will Be The Next Antagonist In Deltarune
At The Least, Asgore May End Up As Chapter 5’s Secret Boss
There are multiple pieces of evidence pointing to Asgore playing a much larger role in Chapter Five. When you’re trying to navigate your way to Kris through Noelle’s vents in Chapter Four, you can take a wrong turn and end up eavesdropping on Asgore talking to himself. He’ll say that he wants Toriel to see “what really happened,” and that she’ll “have to believe” him this time. We don’t know exactly what he’s referring to, but it seems clear that this event is what caused their divorce, since he believes that whatever he plans to do will fix his family.
What’s fascinating about this, however, is thathe’ll comment on the beauty of a mysterious “black shard"which is in his possession. This is probably a shadow crystal, which players usually get from defeating secret bosses, such asJevil in Chapter One, Spamton in Chapter Two, the Roaring Knight in Chapter Three (though they’re arguably not-so “secret”), and the Hammer of Justice/Gerson in Chapter Four. This leads me to believe that, if not as a major antagonist, Asgore will at least be a boss fight in Chapter Five or will have this crystal taken from him.

The Next Dark World Will Be In Asgore’s Flower King Sho
Asgore Seems To Be Intrinsically Linked to His Flowers, And May Become A Literal “Flower King” In The Dark World
For the player to end up fighting Asgore, he’ll probably have to end up in a Dark World, and I think there’s good reason to believe that the next Dark World will be created in his shop, Flower King. In the Hammer of Justice fight, Gerson will tell Susie a story based on the prophecy called “Lord of the Hammer.“The way Gerson summarizes each chapter perfectly aligns with the previous events ofDeltarune, and he also goes on to describe a fifth chapter.
The heroes defeat the King and stop the dragon

“King” is the first antagonist of Deltarune
After their fight, Gerson will say that Susie was the dragon.
The heroes do battle in chariots to save the Queen
Chapter 2’s Dark World was called “Cyber City”
The heroes fought in bumper cars and befriended Queen
Chapter 3, The Isles of Northernlight
The heroes travel among the islands and catch a glimpse of the lost land
Kris and Susie travel between different Dark Worlds
A great smith gives the heroes a terrible weapon
Chapter 5, The Field of Pink and Gold
The vast garden is charred into an inferno of jealousy
Probable Chapter 5 Events
Gerson says there was one more chapter, but he doesn’t know what comes next, claiming that the story “swallowed up the author itself” and was never finished. Though this could be a nod to Toby Fox, I think it’s worth mentioning that Gerson is the author of a “fiction” book called “Lord of the Hammer” in the Light World. This could link to Gerson being dead in the Light World and possibly having some unfinished business.
The events Gerson describes as happening in the fifth chapter will likely involve Asgore. If a Dark World were opened in the flower shop, it would make sense for it to become some kind of garden, much like how Cyber World is the computer lab’s Dark World. Asgore definitely wants Toriel back and attempts to give her flowers after church, but Chapter Four ends with Toriel dancing with Sans. Whether there is actually something romantic between them or not, Asgore isn’t going to be happy to see them together, and Sans might even be taking Toriel to the festival.
The prophecy itself also alludes to the coming events involving Asgore.Reddir userim_very_stupidhelpfully wrote out all the current lines of the prophecy we have, and shortly after a mention of the “axe carved by the tortoise’s grand hammer” is a line which reads “The Flower Man, Trapped in Asylum.” A clear image of Asgore accompanies this line, but what’s interesting is that he is depicted wearing a crown. If you’re used to hisUndertaleself, you probably won’t bat an eye at this, but Asgore isn’t a king inDeltarune’sLight World.
Pink and gold seem to be a common color combination inDeltarune, but it’s not clear what they represent yet. Gerson notably wears both colors in his boss fight, and they’re also the colors of Spamton’s eyes. InSpamton’s secret boss fight in Chapter Two, he also has a bigger pink and gold motif.
Toriel is seen wearing a crown in the Dark World, so Asgore’s appearance in the next Dark World will probably match hers.Assuming this is a reference or linked to their position as the king and (former) queen of the Underground inUndertale, it should be noted that they both have fire powers in Toby’s previous game. It will probably be Asgore who begins the “Inferno,” perhaps burning down his flower shop or the Dark World that will be created within it. The inferno could also refer to a possible fight between Asgore and Toriel.
Two other lines in the prophecy appear to refer to future events inChapter Five ofDeltarune. The festival will be in the next chapter, so love making its way to “the girl” will most likely mean Noelle and Susie becoming an official couple. The prophecy also directly states that Kris' classmate, Jockington, is going to grow a beard—however relevant that may be.
Players Will Likely See More Conflict Between The Dreemurr And Holiday Families
Asgore Might Have Something To Do With Dess/December Holiday’s Disappearance
Asgore being “trapped in Asylum” probably has something to do with his current situation, where he’s stuck as Carol’s housekeeper and appears to be shunned by Toriel. It seems thatthe Holiday and Dreemurr families are still close, despite whatever rift there is between Asgore and Toriel. However, I think the connections between the two families go a bit deeper than that.
The code for the Shelter is in Dess’s room, yet Kris doesn’t allow the player to read all of it. There are three symbols on the shelter—a pine tree, an officer’s badge, and the Delta Rune. The Pine tree is representative of the Holiday family, the badge is representative of the police force, and the Delta Rune is representative of the Church.Conveniently, Asgore has links to all three of these groups.
As seen in a screenshot taken by Reddit userQuarterlyTurtle, inDeltaruneChapter Two, players can discover that Asgore was once the chief of police, but was forcibly removed for currently unknown reasons. He has close ties to the Holidays and presumably used to go to church with Toriel. I believe the reason Kris doesn’t want the player to find out the shelter passcode is that they already know what it is after being told by Asgore, and don’t want to go in because they don’t want to relive something awful that happened there.
Whether Kris was there themself or not, I thinkthis could be the cause of Dess' disappearance, which led to Asgore being fired from the police force.Toriel divorced Asgore inUndertalefor killing children, so it would make sense as a parallel if she thinks he’s responsible for the death of December Holiday inDeltarune. Asgore has plans to clear his name; it’s safe to assume that there will be a lot of drama between the Dreemurr and Holiday families in the next chapter.
Asgore might have obtained the Shadow Crystal from having already been to a Dark World - perhaps Dess is stuck in one that was opened in the Shelter, which is why she’s currently missing in action. Toriel and the rest of the townsfolk probably wouldn’t believe that Asgore had somehow lost a child in a magical world and blamed him for causing her death. In Chapter 5 ofDeltarune, Asgore may attempt to prove the existence of Dark Worlds to everyone, but will get sidetracked by jealousy and grief over Toriel.
