Abbott Elementarycreator and star Quinta Brunson has revealed that she is prepared to move away from the sitcom.Abbott Elementarydebuted on ABC in 2021, and follows the teachers in a Philadelphia public school, who are determined to help their students succeed.
Brunson created, executive produced and starred inAbbott Elementary, as well as scripting several episodes, and has been instrumental in the direction of the show.Abbott Elementaryseason 4concluded in April, with another season on the way, and Brunson has hinted that she could be stepping back from the show.
PerBustle, the actor discussed howAbbott Elementaryhas been a great success, butBrunsonrevealed that she is looking forward to moving away from the role of Janine. She revealed that she has been receiving scripts and projects from other creatives, and is excited to attempt to help many of them get their projects off the ground. Check out her comments below:
“Right now, I’m receiving scripts, and waiting for that moment that feels like, ‘Oh man, this isexactlywhat I’ve been looking for.’Abbotthas been so successful, and I want to use that success to get other people’s projects off the ground.”
Brunson added that she is interested in playing against type, and acknowledges that this will likely involve moving away from Janine.
“I’m always interested in playing against type. I think that’s any actor’s dream. Right now my type is ‘Janine’ and ‘teacher.’ I’m looking forward to moving away from that a little bit.”
