E3 may have been canceled this year but that hasn’t stopped the industry from coming togetherfor a series of digital eventsover the past week including IGN’s Summer of Gaming, Guerilla Collective, and Upload VR Showcase. During the PC Gaming Show, a brand new gameplay trailer was released forTotal War Saga: Troy, the next entry in Creative Assembly’s turn-based strategy series of the same name.

Total War Saga: Troyis the first game in the series to take place in the Bronze Age and will focus entirely on the two-decade-long war between the kingdoms of Troy and Mycenaean Greece. The Trojan War will be explored from both perspectives and introduce some big-name heroes including Achilles and Hector, each with their own special abilities, weapons, units and strategic positions.

The new gameplay trailer offers players a glimpse at what can be expected in the new game and promises that players will be able torewrite the history of this iconic conflict. Using the new Siege Towers, players will now be able to easily scale large walls that surround opposing cities and take down the archers above. The game will also feature the iconic Trojan Horse, a gift from the Greeks that can be used to sneak troops into the city for strategic positioning, as well as unstoppable earthquakes that will destroy defences for those who are patient.

In an interview with IGN’s Daemon Hatfield, Senior Game Designer Milcho Vasilev confirmed that the main formula of theTotal Warseries will be intact and will feel familiar to long-term fans of the series while continuing to add new and unique features such as the brand new multiple resource economy. Scheduled to release less than two months from now,Total War Saga: Troywill beexclusive to the Epic Games Storefor the first year, before releasing on Steam and other PC digital storefronts.

Total War Saga: Troyreleases on the Epic Games Store on August 13th.
