Reggie Games, the creator and publisher of the hugely popularPrimal: The Awakeningboard game, has announced that it’s opening a Primal Boutique Store. The store will stock every product from the Kickstarter campaign and future expansions in 2025.
Products go live on thePrimal Boutique Storeon June 07, 2025. Reggie Games has chosen to independently reprintPrimal: The Awakeningand create a dedicated space that exclusively serves the game, and everything planned for it in the future. Thegame’s Kickstarter campaignasked for roughly £150,000 in 2021 and received over £2 million by the time it closed. If that doesn’t show that the game hit home with thousands of board game fans, I don’t know what does.

The only boss-battler you’ll ever need
Primal: The Awakeningis a boss-battlerboard game with incredibly detailed miniatures. It’s set in a world where humans struggle to survive amid massive monsters. The gameplay revolves around deck-building to craft a hero who is eventually powerful enough to take on the beast you’re hunting or fighting. As you play, you’ll uncover more about the world of Thyrea, gather resources, and maybe even complete a couple of side quests.
Of course, the main appeal of this game is its miniatures, of which there are many. I recommend having adecent board game tableso you can play using them in style. As you can imagine, the Kickstarter campaign saw fans hit every stretch goal Reggie Games had, so there’s a plethora of products for you to pick up if you’re yet to get into the game.

The idea behind opening a boutique store and selling reprints ofPrimal: The Awakeningindependently is to shift away from Kickstarter. Reggie Games believes this is a more self-sustaining approach to board games because content is usually found and consumed so quickly that it’s hard to appreciate it.
A game like this allows for many different games with loads of variation, so controlling the release of products instead of having regular Kickstarters with expansions and a set number of reprints should make for a steadier stream of revenue. Too many releases make for a collection of board games you never touch, while controlled releases with time to enjoy the game help foster a community.

While the boutique store will be the place to buy upcoming expansions forPrimal: The Awakening, you won’t see any until 2025. To celebrate the launch, there’s going to be free postage to the US, EU, UK, and CA. So, if you’re excited about new expansions and want to grab the game or whichever part of it you missed during the Kickstarter, 2024 is the year to do so.
