As the title implies, the movie will take place 28 years after the Rage Virus wiped out most of the United Kingdom. As seen in the trailers, many survivors are still stranded in the U.K. and the infected have not been contained.

Comer:Yeah, even more terrifying. You run for your life. It definitely — there was no sense of, like, having to really force your imagination. It was like you were presented with the reality, and then you were told to run.

Johnson:Yeah, I feel like your instincts cut in, and then you just do it naturally. I think there was no… You didn’t wait for them.

The Infected Will Be Terrifying In 28 Years Later

In28 Years Later,Johnson and Comer play Jamie and Isla, who are married, and Williams plays their son, Spike. Since they are still alive many years after the U.K. has been seemingly abandoned by the rest of the world, all three of these characters probably have essential survival skills. Based ontrailers for28 Years Later, they are all members of a group that lives on Holy Island, which appears to be well-protected from the infected. However, it appears that Jamie and Spike will leave the island to embark on some type of mission in the movie.

At some point in the film, Isla will also end up on the mainland. Therefore,even though Jamie, Isla, and Spike are all seemingly main characters in28 Years Laterand have survived for many years, it’s possible that they will not all make it out alive.
