Ongoing complications with the COVID-19 Pandemic could push back the 93rd annual Academy Awards.
Plenty of enormous gatherings forevents have been canceled or moved onlinethis year to maintain social distancing practices. Now possibly among the list is the yearlyOscarsaward ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of Hollywood elites.

According to an article by Variety, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is considering delaying the broadcast of the ceremony on ABC. Details surrounding the postponement haven’t been officially announced yet, and some insiders are claiming the date isn’t going to change.
The Academy president David Rubin comments on the future of the ceremony stating, “It’s impossible to know what the landscape will be. We know we want to celebrate the film, but we do not know exactly what form it will take.”
There already have been significantchanges to the Oscar’s rules, allowing for movies that debuted on digital platforms to qualify for Best Picture this year, due to Coronavirus complications. In the past, the Academy would require films to screen in L.A. theaters for at least a week and play three times a day.
It is interesting to see how the Academy will handle changes to its platform. Many other popular shows have transitioned torecording segments at homeso that it wouldn’t be completely unknown territory. So if theOscarscould continue to congratulate the success of the movies that were released this year and help give viewers at home something to come together over during these times, that would be special no matter what form it takes.
