Disney Dreamlight Valleydeveloper Gameloft does an amazing job of listening to fans and making changes based on what the players want. With every update, the studio addresses more pain points, adding exciting quality-of-life updates along with new Disney characters. For instance, in the last few updates,Dreamlight Valleyadded the ability to search for ingredients and recipes, unmake crafted items into their components, and expand chest and closet storage—all updates that were highly requested by the community.

Despite this, there are still a few updates that would go a long way toward making this cozy Disney life sim an even more wonderful experience.A few small but significant gameplay tweaks would streamline the game, while other additions would simply be fun elements. Either way, there are still steps that the studio can take to makeDisney Dreamlight Valleyeven more enjoyable for fans.

10Overlapping Decor

It Can Be A Feature, Not A Bug

For most players, not being able to put a bed halfway inside a kitchen cabinet is a good thing. But for many others, the ability to overlap decor would be a fun way to take decorating to the next level.Being able to toggle free-form placement of furniture is a highly requested feature, even if the result would be potentially silly.

Freeform placement of furniture and itemsin general would be a welcome addition toDreamlight Valley. Thegrid decorating system can be limiting, especially when you’re trying to place things symmetrically, but the item you’re using sits unevenly on the grid. Giving players the choice of using the grid or not when placing items would be a fantastic quality-of-life feature forDDVto implement.

9Improved Photo Options

More Poses And Faces Would Make Photos Fun Again

In theWonderland Whimsyupdate,Dreamlight Valleyoverhauled the game’s camera mode, adding many useful features like brightness and contrast, time of day and weather sliders, and more. They also added a couple of new poses for players to try out their new photo options on. This was a great step in the right direction, butthere’s still a lot more that can be done to improve the photo-taking mode.

When the new photo feature was first shown off in the Wonderland Whimy Developer Update, the camera was shown using a depth of field meter. Unfortunately, this slider never made it to the game.

Dreamlight Valleycould take some pointers from thephoto mode inInfinity Nikki, which lets players control everything from the depth of field to the camera’s angle for some awesome dynamic shots. Similarfreedom to take photos without being constrained to a selfie or one full-body anglewould hugely improve the photo mode. More poses—like more natural and sitting options—and improved facial expressions—like something to replace the disliked squinty-eyed laugh—would also go a long way toward improving the feel and functionality of the in-game camera.

8Sound Cue For Daily Chests

Make It A Little Easier To Spot Blue Chests

Disney Dreamlight Valleyhasseveral ways to earn free Moonstones, the in-game currency used for everything from buying items from the Store to unlocking the Premium Star Path. One of the ways you can get free Moonstones is byfinding a blue chest somewhere in your valley.Players are guaranteed at least one blue chest per day, but finding it is sometimes easier said than done.

The daily blue chest can spawn anywhere in the Valley, so it can take some exploring to find it. Besides this, the chest can sometimes be hidden behind decor or in hard-to-reach and hard-to-see corners of a biome. The solution to this is a simple one:add a sound or visual cue to the Moonstone chestto make it a little easier to spot.Dreamlight Valleyalready does this with its seasonal events, making event items shimmer, so implementing the same mechanic for the chests should be a simple feat that would make a big difference.

7Hide Red Dots In Collections

They Serve No Purpose Except To Frustrate

Anyone who’s ever had several emails they’ve been putting off responding to will understand the strain of seeing a red dot to mark your failure. InDreamlight Valley, thedreaded red dot is intended to show players any time they have something newto look at in the many tabs of the game’s menu.

To hide the red dots in Furniture and Wardrobe, open the menu, go to Settings, select Gameplay, and toggle the “Hide Red Dots” option on.

Some players may not realize this, but there’s actually a way to turn off the red dots in the Furniture and Wardrobe menus. However, for some reason, there’s no way to toggle the dots off in the Collection, Shop, or any of the other tabs in the menu.It would be great if the new Collection items at least showed up at the top of the list, but instead it usually takes quite a bit of scrolling to get to the offending red dots and make them disappear… until the next time you find something new, of course, and the process begins all over again.

6Toggle For Material Spawns

Long-Time Players No Longer Need Sticks

Disney Dreamlight Valleyis a treasure trove of materials, from sticks and rocks to flowers and herbs. More materials spawn every few hours, so players who need some basil for a recipe or a couple of sticks for a crafting project can easily find them. At some point, though, players amass huge collections of the most commonly appearing materials, making it no longer necessary to collect more.

These items will keep spawning whether fans need them or not, though, making the valley look messy and cluttered. Many players will methodically go through their valleys and remove the random debris, which can be a tedious process. Instead,Dreamlight Valleyshouldimplement a feature that lets players toggle the visibility of certain common spawning itemson or off. This way, the sticks and stones on the ground would be hidden, but still accessible with the click of a button if the player ever makes it through all three closet-fulls of soft wood they have stashed away on theirfloating island storage center.

5Storage Info When Buying And Crafting Items

See How Many Of Each Item You Have At A Glance

When purchasing an item from a stall or store, you’re shown how much of that item you’re currently carrying in your bag. The problem is,Dreamlight Valleyplayers rarely walk around with loaded pockets, instead creating entire storage islands for their item collections. Because of this, it would be so much moreuseful to see how many of the items you have squirreled away in storage, instead.

Crafting has a similar issue: While in the crafting menu, you’re able to see how many of the raw ingredients you have and how many of the finished product you’re crafting. However, you can’t see how many of the crafted items you already have. This can often lead to creating a surplus of the items you need, wasting ingredients in the process.

4Rounded Paths and Fences

Pave The Way To More Creative Designs

Paths can do a lot to tie in a design, giving a space a more cohesive look. Many players rely on paths to separate distinct areas to organize their spaces and direct the flow of each location. There are plenty of path and fence options for decorators to use in their spaces, but they’revery limited in how players can place them.

At the moment, paths and fences can only be placed in a direct line, only allowing for angular designs. Curved paths and fences would open up many new design possibilities and make it even easier to create beautiful spaces inDreamlight Valley.

3Connecting Paths And Fences

No More Unsightly Gaps Between Paths, Please

While we’re on the subject of paths and fences, there’s one more aspect of the importantDreamlight Valleyfeature that could use a quality-of-life update. Both decorative elements can be placed next to—but not connected to—different types of paths and fences. Trying to put different path and fence types next to each other results in a gap between them, forming a distinctive border that may not be what a player is going for.

Being able to connect two different designs would make it possible tocreate more seamless transitions between sections. For instance, you could put down a bright brick road, which could turn midway into a dark, Sinister road as you approach a certain biome or house. Mixing and matching paths would be a great option fordecorating spaces in creative ways.

2Relocating Goofy’s Stalls

Unlock The Stalls From Their Biomes

There are several market stalls inDisney Dreamlight Valley, like Aladdin’s gem stall and Beast’s Flower stall. These can be placed anywhere in the valley, so players can choose whether they want to group areas by character or theme, or if they want to have all the stalls in one central location. Butthere’s one kind of stall that doesn’t have that level of freedom: Goofy’s stalls.

Goofy has seven stalls across the Valley (excluding DLC), one for each biome. Unlike with the others, Goofy’s stalls can’t be removed from their respective biomes, forcing players to find a spot for them wherever they are in the valley. This can be frustrating for anyone who’s going for a certain look for each biome that Goofy’s stall just doesn’t fit into, and for players who want to group the stalls.Being able to move Goofy’s stalls freely would be an easy but important change for many fans.

1Hugging Characters

Make Character Interactions Even More Meaningful

When I playedSpiritfarer, one of my favorite things to do was to go up to random characters and give them a warm hug. This had no real bearing on the game besides boosting the characters' mood, but the animation that accompanied the hug always made me smile.

For many of the people who playDreamlight Valley, the characters who wander around the valley have special importance. These are often characters that they grew up with, and being able to speak with them is already delightful. Theability to hug the valley residents would make the game even more special, increasing players' bonds with their favorite Disney franchise characters.

The ability to hug villagers is one of the most highly requested features forDisney Dreamlight Valley.Since so many fans want it to be a reality, it’s quite possible that this—and some other QOL updates—will be implemented in the title at some point in the future.
