10Will Kingpin Expose The Secret Identities Of Vigilantes?

Matt Murdock’s Private Life Is In Jeopardy

On the whole, theMarvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t deal in secret identitiesall that much, with the Avengers all being more-or-less celebrities in universe. However, street-level heroes provide a striking exception to this rule, with the entirety ofSpider-Man: No Way Homerevolving around the fallout of Spider-Man’s secret identity as Peter Parker being made public information. Soon, Daredevil might be dealing with the same issue under Kingpin’s new tyrannical rule.

Kingpin already knows that Matt Murdock is Daredevil, and has known for some time. This information was more useful to him as a blackmail tool before, but now that he’s in power and able to outlaw hero activity altogether, it remains to be seen whether Kingpin will follow up his attempts on Matt Murdock’s life by outing him publicly as Daredevil. The same goes for other vigilantes Kingpin is aware of, such as Jack Duquesne’s Swordsman.

9What Happened To Kirsten After Matt (Presumably) Leaves The Practice?

An Unfortunate Casualty Of Matt’s New Crusade

One of the most sympathetic characters in all ofDaredevil: Born Againis Kirsten McDuffie, Matt’s new partner-in-law after the tragic murder of Foggy Nelson. Kirsten also had to deal with the trauma of seeing Foggy (Who may have been a potential love interest) murdered, though she gained a valuable new business partner in Matt through the ordeal. Now,with Matt falling back into his old vigilante habits, Kirsten is left sadly in the dust.

Matt’s conversation to Kirsten about babysitting chaos is a heartbreaking beat because Kirsten understands and ultimately agrees with his sense of morality, agreeing that things aren’t right the way they are. But it’s almost unfair for her to suddenly lose a partner and possibly take a massive blow to her career because of Matt’s sudden status as an outlaw. It’s unlikely that Matt will be able to continue his practice with Kirsten in the wake of Kingpin’s new edict.

8How Will Elden Henson Return As Foggy In Season 2?

Theory And Speculation Abound

Despite being murdered in the opening moments of the first season, Elden Henson asFoggy Nelson is confirmed to return in season 2ofDaredevil: Born Again. This is a puzzling bit of news at first, but the easy explanation is that Foggy will return in a flashback capacity, punctuating some emotional beats as Matt remembers their camaraderie. He could even show up as a hallucination, just like how Matt manifested Kingpin as a devil on his shoulder in season 3 of Netflix’sDaredevil.

Daredevil: Born Againhas an 87% rating onRotten Tomatoes.

However,Foggy might have some comic precedence for genuinely coming back from the dead. At one point in the Marvel Comics, Foggy is thought to have been killed, just like how he was inDaredevil: Born Again, complete with Matt hearing his heartbeat go out, only to later reveal that someone had rushed him away and restarted his heart later. Considering how important Foggy is to the Daredevil mythos, a similar rug-pull isn’t out of the question.

7Do Heather And Matt Have Any Hope Of Reconciling?

The Latest Broken Heart For Matt To Leave Behind

Matt Murdock is one of the most romantic faces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having been through a number of romantic encounters that all eventually ended for one reason or another. The latest may have been his most recent girlfriend, introduced inDaredevil: Born Again,Dr. Heather Glenn, a therapist working with some of the most terrifying villains in the setting.By the end of the season, Heather and Matt’s relationship is on the rocks, to put it mildly.

Heather seems to have sided with her client Kingpin, but there’s no telling where the next season could take her story, and getting back with Matt isn’t out of the question completely.

For one, Heather is dangerously close to learning the truth about Matt’s secret identity as Daredevil, with his erratic behavior and mysterious knowledge of Fisk alarming her. Emotionally, the fact that Matt called for Karen while still groggy from hospital medication in the wake of his bullet wound says a lot about where his thoughts truly are in terms of romance.Heather seems to have sided with her client Kingpin, but there’s no telling where the next season could take her story, and getting back with Matt isn’t out of the question completely.

6Did The Punisher Truly Escape Or Free Other Prisoners?

The Mid-Credits Scene Demands Further Explanation

As is time-honored tradition,Daredevil: Born Again’s first season gets a classicMCU post-credits scene, which raises some questions about where The Punisher’s story is heading. Season 1 sees Frank captured by Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force and subdued in Fisk’s bizarre private dungeon, along with some other political dissidents and threats to his empire. In a mid-credits scene, Frank smooth-talks a guard into shaking his hand only to break it, pulling him in and stealing the keys to his cage.

It would seem quite incompetent for Fisk to leave just a single admiring guard to keep a man as dangerous as Frank Castle locked up, so his path to freedom might not be as simple as it seems. Additionally, if The Punisher does manage to escape, it’s up in the air as to whether he’ll also take the time to free his fellow “inmates”, such as Jack Duquesne. The Punisher isn’t exactly the altrusitic type, but to get back at Kingpin, it may be worth it to free his other enemiesas well.

5Will Karen Page Stay In New York City?

Karen’s Return May Or May Not Be Permanent

Returning from the Netflix series, Karen Page is one of Daredevil’s most trusted friends and professional partners in both his legal and superhero careers, not to mention a will-they-won’t-they love interest. After Foggy’s death, Karen distances herself from Mattafter he disappears for weeks and quits being Daredevil altogether. However, after hearing about Matt’s return to heroism and his latest troubles, she calls in a favor from The Punisher to keep him safe and helps him uncover the truth behind Foggy’s assassination.

It seems unclear as to whether Karen will stay in New York Cityto continue to help Daredevil try to take down Fisk. It might seem like an obvious guarantee, but it’s important to remember that Karen presumably had an entire other life across the country that she had to just up and drop the second Matt was in trouble. Moreover, Matt might not want her sticking around for the danger lest she suffer the same fate as Foggy.

4How Will BB Find The Information Commissioner Gallo Promised?

One intriguing sub-plot that was set up towards the end of the season wasjunior reporter BB Urich’s plot to leak sensitive informationabout Fisk publicly under a pseudonym, using her newfound status with Daniel Blake to get close to his operation. At Kingpin’s black-and-white ball, a conversation with the disgruntled Commissioner Gallo promised BB some scandalous information that could lead to Kingpin’s downfall. Sadly, Gallo’s head is crushed by Fisk personally in the newmost brutal kill in the entire MCUbefore he can get the chance to collaborate with BB further.

There’s no chance that BB will buy whatever excuse Fisk cooks up to explain Commissioner Gallo’s absence, and will know thatshe’ll have to find another way to the information he promised. But how exactly she might manage to do that is a total mystery. Hopefully season 2 will remember that this plotline exists and follow up on BB’s plight to expose Wilson Fisk for what he truly is.

3What Happened To Bullseye After The Gala?

Public Enemy Number One Is Still At Large

Bullseye might be one of the most despicable villains the MCU has ever introduced, but he also fosters a level of sympathy due to his clearly disturbed psyche. Vanessa took advantage of him to assassinate Foggy, and given a chance to escape, it’s not Matt he goes after, but Kingpin himself. Amazingly, Matt throws himself in the way of Bullseye’s bullet, but the expert sharpshooter manages to somehow escape Kingpin’s gala.

The last time Bullseye is seen, he’s standing alone in an empty apartmentwith shattered glass, looking forlorn. Still at large, Bullseye is one of the biggest wildcards going intoDaredevil: Born Againseason 2. Kingpin’s task force will doubtless be searching for him to prevent further attempts on Kingpin’s life, but Benjamin Poindexter is easily one of the most dangerous people in New York City. Bullseye’s next move is one of the largest and most ominous question marks hanging over the series.

2Where Was Spider-Man During Kingpin’s Rise To Power?

New York City’s Biggest Hero Was Nowhere To Be Found

Some of the most vocal fan sentiment around the first season ofDaredevil: Born Againseason 1 revolves around the absence of Spider-Man, or even any mention of him, throughout the entire story. The last time the MCU saw him, Peter Parker had his identity completely magically erased from the minds of everyone, being totally on his own in a new apartment and a homemade Spider-Man costume. It felt strange for Spider-Man to be totally absent for an MCU story that had such profound effects for heroism in New York City.

It felt strange for Spider-Man to be totally absent for an MCU story that had such profound effects for heroism in New York City.

The mystery ofwhere Spider-Man was duringDaredevil: Born Againcan largely be traced to copyright issues stemming from Sony’s continued grasp of the character’s rights. In-universe, however, it’s harder to handwave Spider-Man’s lack of action or fame within the story of the show. The second season ofDaredevil: Born Againor the next solo Spider-Man movie will need to find an elegant explanation.

1Who Will Join Daredevil’s Army?

Plenty Of Possible Heroes On Are The Table

The first season ofDaredevil: Born Againsees Matt Murdock mention needing an army to help him take down Kingpin now that he’s enacted martial law on New York City. In Josie’s bar, he amasses Cherry, Josie, and Detective Kim, concerned citizens to help him on his crusade. However,it’s alarmingly clear that Daredevil will needs some true superhero muscle on his side, as well.

The MCU has so many avenues to explore. Obviously, vigilantes already mentioned in the show, like Swordsman, The Punisher, or even the next White Tiger would be valuable additions. The original Netflix Defenders, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, are all easy choices as well, not to mention other New York City-based heroes like Spider-Man and Kate Bishop. This is by far the biggest and most exciting lingering question left unanswered byDaredevil: Born Again.
